Meet Our Sound Alchemists
Rachael Thorogood and Jaynie Cordell
At Sound Alchemy, we offer healing sound baths using Jaynie's hand built and channelled sound bowls, Paiste gongs, tambura and other instruments. Rachael and Jaynie both work as sound alchemists and are alternative healing specialists who use the power of sound to help you relax, heal, and rejuvenate. Together they share fifty years of experience working as intuitive practitioners. Rachael runs a busy private practice in Cheltenham for individual clients who want energy work, reiki, reflexology and sound. Jaynie works as an intuitive medium working in the quantum healing field and runs clinics; in person or remotely for energy work and Star Seed Portraits. Alongside this they both work as professional artists, sculptors and Jaynie also works as a celebrated ceramicist.

History of Sound Healing
Aboriginal people were the first culture known to heal with sound more than 40,000 years ago followed
Pythagoras who lived for 80 years until 500 B.C. is the first Western scientific and intellectual tradition known to have employed sound for healing purposes, using melodies, harmonies and chants. He also spoke of each atom producing a particular sound to collectively form a universal harmony.
Ancient Egyptians reportedly used vowel sound chants as they believed they were sacred. Greeks used similar chants and musical instruments. Tibetan monks used singing bowls, Shamen chants and drums. China and Japan used gongs, the worlds most ancient instrument which today remain largely hand forged and yield a colourful spectrum of tonal sounds.
